Upon beginning the online tour I did not know ho the quality would be or how the team that would put this together would pull it off. I would say though that the beauty of Vizcaya was truly shown throughout this tour. I learned a lot throughout this tour that I did not know of before such as some of those secret doors or passages. I think one aspect that made this tour easy to follow was the fact that there was a map of the estate shown throughout that had arrows pointing in the next room that was shown. This feature made it very easy tp follow along and not get lost. Some aspects that really caught my attention was the secret room that was shown that kept all the liquor that Deering had throughout the Prohibition. It was also exciting to see the secret tunnel through a go pro because I know that I would not be able to see that tunnel on a regular tour. Another thing that I enjoyed was the feeling of basically having my own personal tour with no distractions at all. Throughout the tour it is made clear that Deering really valued his privacy considering he had so many passage ways and secret doors that made it easy to go from one side of the house to the other without being seen. Some things that I would improve are the audio in certain clips that were filmed outside. It was quite hard to hear at certain times because of the wind outside. Lastly, in one of the videos, specifically episode 7 the audio and the subtitles did not match up. Other than that I think this tour provided a great perspective on the beautiful and estate and made me excited to visit soon.

I truly enjoyed every aspect of this virtual tour as it showed me parts about Vizcaya that I never knew existed. I have visited Vizcaya on several occasions and was beginning to believe that I had seen most parts of it and wasn't really missing out on much more, but this tour taught me that there is still so much that I don't know about Vizcaya and about all the other aspects that there is to learn about. I was definitely shocked to learn that there is a pool within Vizcaya and about all the hidden rooms and passageways. Also, I really appreciated how there were attached images relating to the episodes that allow us to see blueprints or archives about some of the different rooms and layouts of the building. I truly enjoyed the experience as a whole and was fascinated to learn about all these hidden mysteries that Vizcaya has to offer.

First of all, I enjoyed that Mr. Jansonius used the article from the 1960s as a guide for his tour of the secret/hidden doors of the estate. It gave me some insight of how long these mysteries have been a topic of interest. I also liked that everything the writer described in the article was shown in the video. I personally have visited Vizcaya three times, and there were many things in this video that I had no idea were even at the estate. For example, if it weren't for a tour I had attended with FIU's Professor Bailly, I wouldn't have seen the door in the library with the fake books. It's nice that once Vizcaya opens to the public again, visitors have the opportunity to find these doors and passageways in person that maybe they had never seen before in previous visits. I also enjoyed the connections that were made between the purpose of some rooms when the estate was first built for Deering and their new purpose throughout the years of becoming a museum open to the public. It was interesting when Mr. Jansonius also described some things that were still mysteries to the staff to this day, like why and when the guest suite bathroom window was changed into a door panel. Finally, I enjoyed learning about all the different purposes these hidden doors and passageways had for Deering. I knew he was a private person, but it was interesting to actually see how private he was that he needed secret doors to move between rooms and even to go to his own swimming pool unseen by guests. These doors are closed to the public, so it was nice that we were given the opportunity to see them all in an informative virtual tour.
